Two children find remains of a strange creature - a Chupacabra ?

The animal remains were found on Tuesday at 1:30 pm while young Angel Oquendo, 6, played with his brother Sixto, 10, between the supports and footings of a recently built dwelling on family property in the Canalizo sector near the city of Utuado.

According to Adelaida Quiles, Angel's mother, the boy called to her while she roasted a pig for Christmas Eve dinner." He called me saying, Mommy, come here, there's a dead mouse and I ignored him, but he kept calling and I asked my husband to take over the preparations while I took a look."
As soon as she sound the dead animal's remains near a house support she called her husband, Cesar Oquendo, realising that the remains  were not something she could readily identify. They slid a piece of cardboard under it to bring it out into the light. "Upon seeing it, we wondered if that thing could be the Chupacabras or something similar," said Quiles.
A quick observation revealed that the animal had no traces of wool, hair or feathers on its carcass. Nor was there any evidence of it having had upper extremities or wings. The creature would have apparently stood some 2 ft. tall and was supported by its rear extremities, which had pronounced claws and three equally long bones. This gave the impression that it was able to jump considerable heights. Its wide, elongated head, with prominent eyes, sported a complete set of teeth with long upper fangs, two of them in the molar area and another in the lower jaw, indicating a carnivorous nature  The ears were palm-shaped and measured nearly an inch in length, and there was a curved shape to its spinal column. The creature also had a pointed tail measuring nearly 18 inches long and similar to that of a reptile - it appeared to have provided support for it while it walked.
The surprise among the local residents was still considerable as they awaited the arrival of a Forensic Sciences researcher who would verify the animal's characteristics. Curiously, several birds had been slain months ago on the same rural property: eight hens and one rooster were found slain outside their cages and had belonged to Victor Quiles, Adelaida's father. Jose Carlos Rivera, residing in the same area, lost five hens consecutively around the same time and in the same manner. He stated that an uncle of his lost twenty three animals and his sister a further two. 

Update - Puerto Rico, February 8th, 2003
The "Chupacabra" appeared in a central sector of Fajardo, in the east of Puerto Rico, where it allegedly slew two rabbits, "sucking" all of their blood, and leaving a goat near death. 
Domingo Ramos, 70, reported to the Police that he had witnessed the bizarre activity of the Chupacabra as it killed his rabbits and afterwards tried to drain his goat's blood. 
The time was around 2:00 a.m. Monday when Domingo, who lives in Desvío Street, heard a noises out by his rabbit hutches and looking through the window, was horrified to see a giant bird with large wings and bulging eyes drinking his animals' blood. Domingo said: "The creature measured over 5 feet in height, practically attacking the goat in a single motion and draining its blood by biting near the  heart" The police are investigating.

Update - 22nd February 2003, Puerto Rico.
Approximately 20 rabbits were found dead in some cages of the barrio Ollas of Santa Isabel," near Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Residents accused the Chupacabras of viciously attacking the creatures.
The alleged incident took place in the early hours of the morning in the backyard of the house owned by William Maldonado Sanchez. 
There were several rabbit cages at the site, but the only cages attacked were the ones containing female specimens. Maldonado's neighbours claim having heard noises at around 1 a.m. but didn't notice anything strange. Sanchez remarked that something strange had happened in the backyard; only four of the rabbits showed signs of violence; one of the four had a wound on the neck; another two had abdominal injuries; and another had scratches on its paw. Some of the rabbits were found dead in the cages; others on the ground near the entrance of the house. The male rabbits were spared, he says, because their cage was stronger." Maldonado Sanchez phoned the police to report the incident.
Apparently a footprint with three prominent indentations was found under one of his cages.
On Friday, February 21, 2003, it was reported on television that animal mutilations had taken place in La Cuchilla de Candelero Debaso in Humacao, a port city on the eastern shore of Puerto Rico.
Television reports stated that an unknown animal killed all of the pigs in their pens and ripped apart 9 male rabbits, leaving one female alone. 
Eyewitnesses observed a shadowy form running away. At the scene of that incident, it was possible to recover a plaster cast of a feline paw print. The print is in the custody of the Department of Natural Resources. The Television documentary also shows scratches on the pens' wooden parts which were apparently made by the animal in question. there are no predatory feline species native to Puerto Rico)
Another incident took place during the early hours of (Monday) February 17 (2003) in a neighbourhood in the city of Anasco on Puerto Rico's western coast. In this event, 26 rabbits were mutilated, presenting different injuries. Some of them were torn apart.
An elderly man reported hearing shrill squeals and the sensation that a humanoid form was leaping over the rooftops. Another witness reported not hearing any sounds, but that his dogs were nervous and frightened to such an extent that they hid under the bed."

The Hunt for the Chupacabras is On!
Allegations of NASA offering a reward

The Miami UFO Center has learned that there has been reports of several armed searches in various parts of Chile and Argentina in order to find a humanoid creature believed to be the blood 
predator known as "the chupacabras." Due to the severity of the financial losses of farmers in light of recent animal mutilations, the search parties not only consist of law enforcement personnel, but angry civilian farmers are taking part as well.
A group of farmers in Doñihue, Chile, have begun a well-organized search since last Wednesday, after numerous reports of dead farm animals began to horrify the entire town. According to some villagers, the attacks have been so severe that they have suffered great financial losses. The animal mutilations believed to be caused by the alleged creature have been over two hundred, including chickens and bovines.
Cristina Saldía and Carmen Cortés, two of the property owners affected by the financial losses due to the animal mutilations described the scene.
According to them, their dead chickens were completely dry. "The carcasses appeared to be without a drop of blood in them," they said. Many villagers believe the "bloody creature" might be hiding in the local vineyards.
Some skeptics, including Veterinarian Jorge Troncoso, say the animal deaths might actually be caused by an epidemic. Others attribute the deaths to the usual "wild dogs" or mountain lions. 
However, when these wild animals attack, they normally consume their prey and not just suck their blood.
There was a particular group of farmers that were found setting up traps for the alleged humanoid creature, and conducting night search operations. These farmers and hunters say that they were told by some individuals claiming to be "NASA personnel" in the area that they would receive a million dollars if they capture a chupacabras, dead or alive.
Another similar search operation has been taking place in the neighbouring country of Argentina, in the city of Rosario. Last month, Judge Mario Dilascio from the Southern Judicial District of Rosario ordered an intensive police search throughout the city.
The search began in light of several police reports filed by many of the local residents, many of them claiming of being attacked by a humanoid creature in the wooded areas of the city. However, this particular creature appeared to be significantly larger than the one described as the"chupacabras." The alleged beast appears to be the Argentine version of the Yeti, according to many eyewitness descriptions. All the eyewitness testimonies corroborate. They all mention a strange large creature, about two meters tall, with long ears, shiny reddish eyes, strong and powerful arms, and hands with long curved fingernails, apparently as sharp as blades.
"We have gathered a great deal of eyewitness testimonies and interviews with people that claim to have seen a large hairy human-like creature, apparently very ferocious, and capable of attacking human beings," said Police Chief Roque Farías. "The Province Magistrate has taken charge of the case. He has issued us instructions to conduct two operational phases. Phase one will basically consist in verifying the truthfulness and validity of these eyewitness claims, as well as the actual existence of the alleged creature.
Phase two will involve the actual search and capture of the animal. We are going to try to capture it alive."
The chief provided additional details of the search operation. 
"The search operation would consist of 14 officers from the mounted police. They will search the Rosario River Area, heading north. Six additional officers will search the neighbouring areas surrounding the city dump, where a family of nearby residents reported seeing the creature as close as ten meters from their residence. A third patrol car, with four officers will search the vicinity of Salado Brook, where in mid February a couple was attacked by the alleged beast. Each team will include members of the Crime Scene Investigative Unit 3, in case any physical evidence, such as tracks, hairs, or fingerprints would require to be analyzed," said Police Chief Farías. Miami UFO Center has not received any recent updates about this search; therefore it is not known if the search is still ongoing.
In Cachi, Argentina, several investigators interested in animal mutilations cases have arrived. Some of them, including a few journalists, are interested in the reports of humanoid sightings. One particular French journalist by the name of Jean Jacques Mandel is interested in the chupacabras phenomenon. He's an editor for Geo Magazine. Mandel is in the area conducting interviews and investigations to determine if the reports about humanoid creatures are real, or if they are just the product of mass hysteria. Mandel has also traveled to India to investigate the sightings of another humanoid creature known as "the monkey man."

 

Update – Chile, Date: July 9th, 2003 Chupacabras Gets A Beating
A couple from Vina del Mar went through a horrifying experience after becoming aware that a strange animal, allegedly the Chupacabras, had entered into their back yard where it attacked the family's ducks. One of the ducks suffered a perfect perforation in its spine; the remaining three animals disappeared.
Most stunning for the protagonists of the event was that they managed to face see the animal, face it and even strike it repeatedly with a metal cart. But the intruder managed to escape; it's escape path was not ascertained. This strange event was recorded early Wednesday (July 9th). The witnesses were Juan Siliva Torres and Veronica Vildosola, residents of Las Maravillas street in the town of Santa Julia. Both were hesitant about disclosing their experience, since they feared they would not be believed.
Curiously enough, this episode is similar to several other similar ones recorded in different parts of the area and the country which have been attributed to the legendary Chupacabras.

Veronica Vildosola states that on the day in question, around 5 a.m., she heard strange noises:
"First I heard blows on neighbouring rooftops. It was like something jumping from one rooftop to another. I suddenly heard something like a very heavy bird that landed on our roof. It immediately started to scratch the rooftop with its claws."

Faced with the fear that the animal or bird would attack the ducks kept in the backyard or the hens in their coops, she woke up her husband so he could go and take a look.


Juan Silva says:
"Upon going outside, I saw an animal that wasn't a dog in spite of looking like a dog. It was in a corner, hunched over one of the ducks it had caught. I got closer, hurling the wrench I held in my hand against it. But since it didn't move, I began to strike it with the handle of a metal hand cart that was in the yard. The animal made some strange sounds, like moans of pain. Had it been a dog, it would have barked and yelped. But that wasn't the case." Silva adds that the creature "had very shiny eyes."

His wife added:
"I was holding a stick with which to strike what I thought was a dog. That's when I saw the critter trying to escape. It did so in a semi-erect position, as though walking hunched over on two legs. It looked at me and I also saw its shiny eyes. I don't know if I was paralyzed out of fear or for another reason."

The couple indicated that neighbouring dogs began to bark like never before and stated that after realizing that the duck over which the animal had crouched had a deep hole through which its blood had been drained. Since the animal was caught in the act, the bird had traces of blood over its feathers. Reporters from La Estrella saw that the attacked bird had an orifice 2 centimeters
across; it was a perfect incision, as though created by a precision instrument. The family noted that three ducks had disappeared. "We found a wing belonging to one of them, but the other two we couldn't find, even after going out to the street and looking for it.
But the mysterious creature's escape was also a subject of high strangeness for the protagonists of this event.
"Later on, we tried to see which way the animal could have escaped, but we didn't find any point through which it could've crossed. We think it could have only flown away," said the woman.

They noted that the animal only left some claw marks on the dirt.
"These don't match dog paws either," stated Juan Silva.
Valparaíso, Vina del Mar and Quillota have been the scene for similar episodes in recent years. No logical explanation has hitherto been found for them. For this reason, those affected by poultry deaths have ascribed the attack to the alleged Chupacabras.

Furthermore, the case recorded in Santa Julia coincides in several aspects with the two latest ones known in Quillota. One of them is that the creature appears during the early morning hours, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. The other is that when faced with humans, these notice strange eye-glow which has even left them paralyzed.
 

Since Thursday (July 3, 2003) residents of Pillanlelbun, a town some 15 kilometers (9 miles) from Temuco in southern Chile have been shutting down henhouses, mangers and pigpens under lock and key and using crosses made of palqui (wood) after the news of the mysterious deaths of 15 animals at the Ty Koyam Mini-Zoo became known.
The victims of the odd event, which remains unexplained, were six sheep imported from Somalia and nine deer which were found dead with tear marks and bruises on their bodies and bites on their necks. They were scattered throughout the location.
A number of hypotheses were presented at first, everything from the descent of starving pumas from the Andes to wild dogs and the Chupacabras--which have been discarded given that the place is completely shut (down) at night, thus making impossible any entry by animals.
Local residents are concerned. Even those who profess not to believe think that the matter involves Satan.Alejandro Fuentes, who owns the preserve, stated yesterday (Thursday, July 3, 2003) that the investigation is in the hands of the (Chile's) Agriculture and Livestock Service (Spanish acronym: SAG) of the Ninth Region as well as the police, since the deaths of the animals represent a loss in excess of 4 million pesos.
In order to avoid any new attacks, and in view of the fact that llamas, alpacas, iguanas and apes also occupy the premises, Alejandro Fuentes and his associates have placed traps all around the area. However, as of yesterday, the beast did not attack again.
Temuco is located about 400 kilometers (250 miles) south of Santiago de Chile, the national capital.

Update: Chile, July 17, 2003  Chupacabras In La Palmilla?

Sedate residents of the La Palmilla sector of the peaceful commune of Rauco in the 6th Region were startled to find 29 hens with their legs in the air, completely exanguinated and with twin holes on their necks. The peasantry was shocked at the find and without thinking twice, assigned blame to the now-legendary "Chupacabras" who had attacked again.
They had no doubts in their minds, because aside from the holes, the hens - which were all egg layers - were completly dry, as though some unknown beast had sucked their last drop of blood. Still trembling from their fear of the "Chupacabras" and concerned by the loss of the birds, the residents noted that the deaths had occurred simultaneously in two neighbouring houses on Tuesday morning.
What is strange about the matter and causes the belief in a supernatural animal partial to vampirism is that no resident heard noises, which is very strange given the fact that hens tend to be very vocal if attacked. Even the guard dogs in both houses never realized what was going on, and never made a fuss.
The first attack affected the home of Maria Carolina Bravo, who lost 24 hens. According to this woman, upon inspecting the henhouse she found a hole through which some animal or the "Chupacabras" could have gotten through. The woman did not hear any sounds either. Martha Varas was left speechless when she found five dead hens, slain in the same mysterious fashion, in her backyard.

State police of the Rauco Barracks appeared immediately and witnessed the inexplicable hen slaying for themselves.

CHUPACABRAS PRINTS TO BE STUDIED BY GEO GROUP

CURICO. The prestigious GEO Group, devoted to the study of UFO phenomena, is studying the prints left by the alleged "Chupacabras" which apparently attacked thirty chickens during early morning hours last Tuesday in La Palmilla, Rauco commune.
A total of 24 birds were found exsanguinated within a henhouse belonging to Mar=EDa Carolina Bravo. In another nearby henhouse, five more hens experienced a similar attack; no explanation is forthcoming regarding the animal [whose fangs] pierced their neck and drew their blood.

Alfredo Nilo, a Curico-based researcher of UFO phenomena, visited the site of the incident and made casts of the prints which could belong to the legendary "Chupacabras". He was also able to secure samples of hair, whose origin shall be investigated. In this regard, and in order to perform more detailed studies, Alfredo Nilo took the samples to Santiago, specifically to the GEO Group, which specializes in UFO and paranormal phenomena. There he met with Alberto Urquiza, the group's president, who also participates in the "La Ley de la Selva" television show, in order to deliver the casts and perform an analysis.
"We were able to compare some of the prints of the most recent attack of this being, which occurred in Vi=F1a del Mar, and which have some similar characteristics with the Rauco evidence in the type of claw. However, the prints were left with GEO for a more thorough analysis, since they have the necessary materials and instruments," said Nilo.

In this meeting, Urquiza made known his intention to visit the area in order to see the site where the "Chupacabras" attack allegedly occurred. Even when no specific date was given, it could take place within a few weeks. Alfredo Nilo said that for the time being they await the analyses to be performed by GEO in order to ascertain the type of animal or strange being that exsanguinated the hens from Rauco. He also noted that they are waiting for the report to be drafted by the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) based on the hens that were removed from the site. The prints taken by Nilo from the site where the birds died correspond to one of the animal's legs, which is characterized by not being "retractable" (sic) like those of a dog. Furthermore, reddish hair was located which could eventually shed more light on the matter.

"We were also interested in the fact that the birds' feathers appeared to have been chopped off as if by a knife. When a dog tears at something, it pulls out the feathers and they come out by the root. We are faced with the fact that a sharp object was responsible, and the prints show that the attacker had claws as thin and sharp as a knife," he said.
Nilo also recalled that a resident of La Palmilla is devoted to looking for water to build wells and tanks. He used his tools in one of the chicken coops where the creature or animal attacked the hens and found that the tools had acquired radiation and a strange energy.
"We believe it's an extraterrestrial pet, a programmed being, a hybrid or cloned species designed to extract bodily fluids or liquids from the birds in order to feed itself, or with another purpose altogether. It is associated to the UFO phenomenon and is very intelligent. For this reason it will not be captured," he added.

Update: Monday, August 18, 2003 Another Chupacabra attack in Chile? 
There was a blackout that night. It was a Wednesday and the labour union had called for a national workers' strike. The protests were violent in Lota, but all was calm at Poblacion Idahue. Suddenly there was a noise: it was around midnight and someone was prowling around the house of Samuel Bustos. This announcer for Radio El Carbón looked out his rear door. His 10 year old son shined a flashlight. They took some steps and the boy focused the beam on a white duck, which was frightened by his presence. Bustos' wife Alicia raised six of these animals.
"Maluco", the neighbours' dog, was excited and barked ceaselessly; Samuel and his son went into the house and fell asleep. But at 3 in the morning there was another commotion: there was no doubt that a prowler lurked outside in the backyard. Curiously, the ducks did not make any noise.
Little Samuel Antonio stated:
"At around 11 in the morning I went out to feed them and I found them dead," The boy saw three of them. Another two were in a hard-to-reach corner. A third was agonizing in the bushes along the Idahue creek, which crosses the backyard of Samuel Bustos' house. 
Bustos remarked:
"They had two small perforations marked on their throats. I'm sure that this was not the work of a dog, much less that of a human."  Prints resembling those of a dog were found in the mud, but it is clearly evident that these are larger. Samuel Bustos' neighbour approached him to say that early last Tuesday, they found four of her ducks dead. The birds showed the same wounds.
Esteban Hidalgo, one of Samuel's neighbours, claims having seen from his window a black creature, one meter tall, crouching among the plants.
Mystery increased when Jorge Bello, who lives in front of the Federico Schwager Stadium in Coronel, phoned Bustos to tell him that Friday afternoon he and his wife had seen an odd "bird" flying over the houses. It looked like a bat, but was much larger.
No one claims it's the Chupacabras, but no one dismisses the possibility either.
 

Update: August 19, 2003 Chupacabras Attack Reported In Chile

The animals presented perforations near the neck and extensive featherless areas.
"Damn you, Chupacabras, you killed all of my hens," were the resigned and angry words of Ana Luisa Morales Inostroza, when she discovered at 7 a.m. yesterday, as is her custom, the macabre spectacle as she went to feed her farm animals. Seven chickens in one of her two henhouses were dead, scattered all over the dirt floor. Another small bird was agonizing. Pale and almost dry, the dead birds had lost most of their plumage and presented two-centimetre puncture marks on their necks. The dry flesh and the animal's interior could be seen through the puncture, as though a strange object had been introduced into the dead poultry's bodies to draw their blood.
Ana Luisa reported the event to the Carabineros (state police) barracks at Las Cruces, noting that the "Chupacabras" was responsible.
Two dogs guard the home of Ana Luisa Morales and on an adjacent property, two mastiffs reinforce the sector's safety. 
She stated:
"The dogs have never attacked the birds and when cats do it, they shred the chickens and the hens alike. But my chickens are whole but for the feathers and the hole in their bodies. These birds have no blood, you can see it by how pale they are. There's no doubt that it is the Chupacabras, whom they say was in Santiago but has appeared in Las Cruces. I believe it is the Chupacabras who came in at 4 in the morning, because at that time everything's asleep, even the animals."

The news spread like wildfire in the community and numerous residents visited Ana Luisa Morales to show solidarity and while they were added, to take a look at the deceased poultry.
The economic losses were considerable, as well as the effort taken to raise the poultry. Right next to the affected henhouse there is another, but it has a metal structure on its roof, which kept the attacker from continuing with its fatal assault of the remaining birds, hens in this case.
From now on, Ana Luis Morales must redouble her efforts to protect her remaining birds and scare off the mysterious Chupacabras that prowls Las Cruces, according to the locals.

Update - 20TH August 2003-08-20 Chupacabra Returns To Nicaragua
"Frightened peasants from a town in north-eastern Nicaragua reported the sudden deaths of a number of sheep, apparently attacked by a strange animal known as the Chupacabra."
According to residents of Tolapa, near Malpaisillo in the department of Leon, 60 miles northeast of" Managua, the national capital, this is 'the return of the Chupacabra, a strange creature first reported in 1995 in Mexico and Puerto Rico, and which was also reported in Nicaragua three years ago.
Farmer Alicia Icabalceta remarked:
"'We found 12 dead female sheep as there was about three years ago. They had two holes in the neck".
Albertina Brenes, a resident of Tolapa, the site where the first Nicaraguan Chupacabra was spotted, claimed to have lost five sheep attacked by the mysterious animal.
Her son, Teodoro Rojas also added:
"One of my nephews heard lots of noise, and the sheep were restless. When we woke up in the morning, we found five dead sheep, farmers who claim having seen the Chupacabra describe it as a mix of dog and kangaroo, with hind legs longer than front legs and 'very shiny eyes".
Tolapa was in the national and international media in August 2000, when people began describing a strange animal that sucked the blood of helpless animals, leaving them dead. 
The mysterious animal known as Chupacabra was allegedly shot by Jorge Luis Talavera and was found two days later on his San Lorenzo farm. However, a team of scientists at the University of Leon said the animal was only a stray dog. Talavera claimed that the CIA had pulled a switch, substituting a dead dog for the strange creature he had shot.
Another resident, Sra. Oilar Ocon, said the Chupacabra attacked her sheep in the El Barro region of the municipality of Malpaisillo."
